Classic Christmas Movies

We love Christmas movies here at b&wm. Every December we get our box of festive dvds down from the loft and force anyone who wanders into our territory to watch them.

I have lost track of the number of times I have sat through Scrooged, Christmas Vacation, and The Muppet Christmas Carol. But what of the old black and white classic Christmas movies? Everyone knows It’s A Wonderful Life, but surely there must have been others?

Well, I am pleased to be able to tell you that there are quite a few that are still worth watching today. Yes, they are mostly sentimental and corny, but come on, it’s Christmas!

The Apartment
Perhaps not strictly a “Christmas movie” this classic comedy drama is set in the Christmas period. It is the story of an insurance clerk who, in an attempt to further his career, loans out his apartment to his seedy superiors, who use it to conduct extra-marital affairs.
